Frequently Asked Questions

Who can perform the forklift certification? Any "competent person" per the U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration regulation (29 CFR 1910.178(l)).

What is a competent person? According to OSHA, a competent person must have the experience and training to train, evaluate, and certify operators. That's right! No special certification or designation required. Most companies simply designate the most experienced operator or a supervisor as the trainer and give him the responsibility of training and certifying workers.

Do operators have to be certified? Yes, operators must be certified and must be re-evaluated every 3 years per OSHA standards. Training must include "formal" and "practical training under the OSHA standard. Failure to have trained operators can result in costly OSHA fines or serious workplace injuries.

Are your kits OSHA approved? No, OSHA does not approve or disapprove forklift certification kits. However, the kits do contain the materials to successfully certify individuals per OSHA standard (29 CFR 1910.178(l)).
